The ads called "matrimonials" in India are aimed at finding appropriate spouse. The ads run under such headings as Brahmin, Kshetriya or any professionals like doctors, engineers etc. Some of India's leading newspapers like The Times of India, The Hindustan Times, The Loksatta, Dainik Jagran etc public matrimonial ads every weekend. The ads are split evenly between the "Grooms Wanted For" and "Brides Wanted For" sections. The recent examples of ads like, "A beautiful girl, 28 years old, educated, caste no bar is looking for a well settled man, own house, living in city". The similar other ads in 'Brides wanted section' published like - The modern boy, 28/165, Medium build, smart, Civil Engr working in metro city having a rational progressive and liberal outlook seeks an educated, beautiful and preferably professionally qualified girl with similar outlook."

The days when people used to arrange marriages is gone. Marriage has become a seasonal business. The interesting is most people would not marry outside of their caste. Brides family expect a man is well settled. Groom look for a beautiful woman.

There are many Matrimonial and matchmaking websites today like shadi.com, vivaah.com, bharatmatrimony.com, jeevansathi.com, divorcee matrimony.com ect. They are all business oriented and earn good money through subscription charges.

Marriage is a costly business today. Many young people going age bar due to difficulty of finding a good spouse.
