Gender Equality in India.

Nature has divided human race between men and women, but their status and role in society are determined by our culture. No culture or society treats it's women as like men. In patriarchal societies women have always experienced injustice, tyranny and inequality. According to the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights, all the persons irrespective of their gender, sex, religion, ethnicity, caste they have been given equal rights and freedom. All humans are born free. No man is superior or inferior towards one another.

In patriarchal societies, women's role is limited to the household work. There are not allowed to study more and go to work. They do not have rights to marry and divorce as per their wish. Their role is just to get married, have children, and take care of the family. Even today some Indian men don't want to marry very educated and working women. Till early 2005 Hindu women had no equal rights in the ancestral property of the parents.

According to the Article 14 of the constitution, there is equality before law and equal protection of law. As per article 15 of the constitution, discrimination on the ground of religion, caste, ethnicity, language, age, gender is provided. As per article 21 of the constitution, everyone has a right to dignified life.

Women are also powerful and capable as like men. So it would not be good to ask women just to stay at home and do household work. Society and other people should not take anyone's natural rights given them by nature. Everyone has equal rights, freedom and right to justice.

Adv Manoharrao Gomare Saheb died on 20th December 2023 by old age.  Manoharrao Gomare Saheb was a civil advocate practicing in Latur District Court.  I did not have a personal interaction or talk with him ever. But I have seen his life very closely.  My introduction to him was of less than three years.  I listened him for the first time at Latur District Bar liabrary during his autobiography book inauguration.   A polite man with a poetic heart. Mother died after giving him birth. He couldn't see his mother's face also. In his many sad poems...
